The extreme heat warning continues until 8 PM EDT tonight due to expected heat index values today of 100 to 105 degrees yet again. Hot and humid conditions, especially in tandem with direct sunshine all day, will lead to scattered showers and thunderstorms in the second half of today. There is a small chance that some storms could turn severe, but the most likely scenario is several storms with strong wind gusts and heavy rain randomly placed across the area. Temperatures reach the low 90s today and drop to the mid 70s tonight, only rising to the upper 80s tomorrow afternoon. Repeat shower and storm chances persist from today through Friday in the afternoon and evening with a general cooling trend across the area this week.
Today: Scattered thunderstorms. High 92.
Tonight: Mostly cloudy. Low 71.
Wednesday: Isolated thunderstorms. High 87.
Thursday: Scattered thunderstorms. High 90.
