Severe weather unlikely today, but not impossible
After a few morning snow showers courtesy of the lake, the morning commute will once again be slick across northern Michiana and bitterly cold for ALL of our area. Wind chills between -10F and -20F are expected for some communities out the door, values that can trigger frostbite in 30 minutes or less in some cases. Cloudy morning skies quickly give way to sunnier afternoon skies with temperatures getting into the mid teens. Direct sunshine in the forecast today helps to keep roads somewhat clear for the evening commute. Lake effect snow returns tonight and tomorrow morning, producing around an inch for territories west of US-31 by Saturday afternoon. Our highs land in the 20s on Sunday with partly cloudy skies ahead, but more snow awaits early next week.
Today: AM clouds, PM sun. High 16.
Tonight: Snow showers. Low 0.
Saturday: AM snow. High 18.
Sunday: Partly cloudy. High 24.
