St. Joseph County resident charged with failure to register as a sex offender

ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. -- A St. Joseph County resident has been charged with failure to register as a sex offender, according to court records.

St. Joseph County Police learned on November 27 that Shawn Hale was living in St. Joseph County but had not contacted the department to register, according to the probable cause affidavit.

Hale admitted to moving to the county in April of 2018 and failing to register his new address, reports said.

Detectives said Hale has been convicted twice in Michigan for failing to register as a sex offender.

Hale has been charged with one count of failure to register as a sex or violent offender.

UPDATE: In May of 2020, Hale pleaded guilty to failure to register as a sex or violent offender as part of a plea agreement. He was sentenced to 230 days at the county jail.
