St. Joseph County police to host Pack the Pantry event
ST JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. -- The St Joseph County Police Department is inviting the community to stop by and donate non-perishable food items for those in need this week.
Starting today Monday March 24 until Friday March 28, the front lobby of the St. Joseph County Jail will be open for donations from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m.
Items needed include non-perishable food items such as pasta, canned veggies, cereal, and peanut butter as well as toiletry items such as diapers, baby wipes, toothbrushes, and feminine hygiene products amongst many others.
"Basically, Sheriff caught wind of the pantry needing an extra little boost at the end of the month to get them full, is what we expecting to do. So that's what we are pushing to do internally and externally. So, we're seeking donations from the public," stated Advocate for the Crisis Services Unit.
At the end of the week, all donations will be taken to the brand-new Portage Pantry according to the St Joseph County Police Department.
