ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. - St. Joseph County Commissioners voted to approve tax incentives for a $3.5 billion-dollar electric vehicle battery plant in New Carlisle on Tuesday.
The council had unanimously voted to pass the resolution lat week, which approved a 10-year tax abatement and development agreement with General Motors.
The new plant would add around 16-hundred jobs to the area.
General Motors is considering placing the plant off of State Road 2 at the Indiana Enterprise Center.
This location will be confirmed by General Motors by the end of June.
