Southern Indiana police officer killed during dispute at hospital
PERRY COUNTY, Ind. - A Tell City, Indiana, police officer was killed while investigating a domestic dispute at a hospital Monday morning, according to Indiana State Police.
Tell City Sergeant Heather Glenn was allegedly shot and killed by 34-year-old Sean Hubert of Tell City.
According to ISP, Sergeant Glenn began investigating a domestic dispute between Hubert and a woman on Sunday. The dispute sent the woman to a local hospital.
On Monday, the victim told hospital staff Hubert was on his way to the hospital.
When Glenn tried to arrest Hubert, he allegedly refused to comply.
Glenn tried to use a stun gun on him but it did not work. During a struggle, Hubert shot Glenn, according to police.
Officers returned fire, killing Hubert, reports said.
Sergeant Glenn worked for the Perry County Sheriff’s Office and Tell City Police Department for almost 20 years.
She was a well-respected officer and a pillar in her community.
Glenn was a good friend to everyone and will be sadly missed but not forgotten, said Tell City Police Chief Derrick Lawalin.
Tell City is just over an hour east of Evansville.
Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb released the following statement in response to Glenn’s death:
“Another officer has fallen victim to the senseless act of violence. I urge Hoosiers to remember Tell City Police Sgt. Heather Glenn who gave the ultimate sacrifice for the safety of others. She dedicated nearly 20 years to serving the citizens of Perry County and Tell City and now her family needs our love and support more than ever.
Janet and I will hold her loved ones in our hearts during this painful time as they try and find peace and solace.”
