SOUTH BEND, Ind. - The South Bend Police Department held its monthly crime stat meeting Wednesday night, giving community members insight into what officers saw in the month of August.
The number of reported shots fired incidents dropped 21% in August, from 149 in July to 117 the following month.
Sixty-three of those incidents, or 46%, were from the west side of the city.
Police also reported no homicides during the month, down from three reported cases in July.
From July to August, the number of larcenies and motor vehicle thefts stayed the same, at 41 and 32 reports respectively.
While larcenies went up on the east and south sides of the city, those reports went down on the west side.
Drug violence reports also decreased in August, from 46 to 34 reports.
