SOUTH BEND - South Bend Police confirm investigators are investigating double shooting on Prairie Avenue.
According to St. Joseph County Police dispatch this happened at 6:10 pm.
Initial report was made that a man shot his ex-wife and then turned the gun on himself as officers got onto the scene.
Officials are saying that the woman was shot in the head and killed in the back bedroom of the house.
Police say both are in their 70s.
Police tried to talk the man out of shooting himself but were unable to stop him. He was taken to the hospital in critical condition.
A dog at the home was also killed.
