South Bend Police Department links string of robberies to dating apps

SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The South Bend Police Department is cautioning dating app users after officers found a link between a recent string of robberies and the apps.  

Over the past few weeks, officers have responded to reports of armed robberies on the northeast side of the city.

Victims tell police they agreed to meet someone from a dating app at a location and upon arrival, the suspect(s) robbed them at gunpoint.

No injuries have been reported from these robberies but personal property was taken.

Officers urge users to meet people in a public place.
