ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. --- The boards of South Bend Community School Corporation and Penn Harris Madison Schools each passed resolutions Monday night returning some students to full time, in-person learning. The South Bend measure was only for elementary school students while PHM's ordinance addressed middle and high school students.
South Bend elementary school students will begin their return to full time, in-person instruction on February 22nd. Students will have the option to return to classrooms on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays with all students having virtual only classes on Wednesdays.
PHM will begin phasing in middle and high school students starting February 16th with 6th and 9th graders returning. One week later, on February 22nd 7th and 10th grade students can return with 8th, 11th, and 12th grade students returning on March 1st.
All PHM students will still be virtual only on Mondays until April 12th when students can return to in-person learning five days a week.
Both PHM and South Bend Schools will continue offering virtual only learning for students who do not feel comfortable returning to in-person learning.
