South Bend man sentenced to 12 years in prison for possessing firearm

A South Bend man has been sentenced to 12 years in federal prison for being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Lamont Jamerson, 34, pleaded guilty in federal court. He was also sentenced to 2 years supervised release.

In August 2019, Jamerson was in a dispute with another person about money. Jamerson went to the person’s home and pointed a gun at the person through the window. The person called 9-1-1 and Jamerson was taken into custody, court documents said.

Officers found a loaded 9 mm handgun on Jamerson.
