Some Michiana residents still without power as storm damage cleanup continues after another night of severe weather

UPDATE: As of 11 a.m. Thursday, MEC reports about 1,200 customers remain without power.

MEC officials say Thursday morning a truck hit three electric poles, knocking out additional customers.

Crews are out in full force to repair these and the remaining storm outages, officials say.

ORIGINAL STORY: Utility crews have been working day and night to restore power to thousands of Michiana residents following Sunday's severe weather and two confirmed tornadoes, but thousands are still without power Thursday morning after another round of severe weather Wednesday night.

Towns are continuing to cleanup storm damage and assess the damages, especially in towns like Bourbon and Syracuse.

Midwest Energy & Communications out of Cassopolis reports around 950 customers are without power after Wednesday night’s thunderstorms.

MEC officials say their largest outage remains in Jefferson Township, with scattered outages throughout southwest Michigan.
