SJHS surgical robots demo at South Bend Cubs game

Saint Joseph Health System

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- On Sunday, July 20, Saint Joseph Health System will be showcasing surgical robots at Four Winds Field.

This will be at the matchup between the South Bend Cubs and Beloit Sky Carp game. Gates open at 12:05 p.m. and the first pitch is at 2:05 p.m.

This showcase by SJHS will include new technologies such as a robotic-assisted bronchoscopy that detects lung cancer in the earliest stages.

"Advancements in robotic technology are revolutionizing the way we diagnose and treat lung cancer, offering patients a faster, safer, and more accurate diagnostic process," says Dr. Donald Westerhausen, Pulmonary Disease Specialist at Saint Joseph Health System.

A 56-foot-long expandable trailer will provide attendees with hands-on experience with multiple surgical robots, complimentary health screenings, and more.

"We are thrilled to bring this educational opportunity to our community," said Chris Karam, president of Saint Joseph Health System. "The new robotic bronchoscopy robot at Saint Joseph Health System that is featured in this display combines cutting-edge technology with compassionate care, allowing us to enhance precision while ensuring that every patient feels supported and understood in their healing journey, " said Karam.
