ST. JOSEPH, Mich. -- Berrien County Sheriff's Office deputies assigned Silver Beach in St. Joe on Sunday night were forced to close the beach early duet to a large number of young adults and juveniles who arrived at the beach and began to cause a disturbance.
Around 8 p.m. on June 22, the BCSO deputies requested assistance for Saint Joseph Department of Public Safety and county patrol units, which responded quickly to the scene.
Authorities say two individuals started to physically fight resulting in one young adult and one juvenile being detained and issued citations for disturbing the peace.
The juvenile was later released to a parent.
"The young adults and juveniles continued to act disorderly and for the safety of the public, Silver Beach was closed early," the BCSO said.
Silver Beach reopened on Monday.
"We will continue to take a zero-tolerance approach to deal with anyone acting outside the laws or ordinances down at Silver Beach," the BCSO said.
The sheriff's office asks members of the public to call the detective bureau at 269 983-7141, ext. 7224 if you have any cell phone video to assist in identifying the individuals responsible for creating the disturbance.
