Search warrant served for South Bend abortion doctor
SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Detectives from St. Joseph County's Special Victims Unit served a search warrant on the offices of Dr. Ulrich Klopfer as part of an investigation into improper documentation.
The St. Joseph County Prosecutor's Office says detectives with the Special Victims Unit took files and other paperwork from Klopfer's office at the Women's Pavilion in South Bend on Wednesday.
The investigation into improper record keeping involves a 13-year-old girl.
A state law says doctors have to report abortions done on women under the age of 14.
A local Right to Life organization says he didn't report that abortion in a timely manner.
It took Klopfer 3-4 months to get all the proper paperwork filed when he should have done that in a matter of 3 days, according to Indiana law.
"Let me put it this way, if there's any question, it's a question about paperwork, it's not a question about any medical malpractice or anything like that," says Dr. Klopfer.
