Search for answers after car found submerged in South Bend

SOUTH BEND, In. - Police are investigating after a car was found underwater in South Bend.

It happened just before 2 a.m. at Pinhook Park along Riverside Drive.  A witness called 911 after seeing the vehicle go into Pinhook Lagoon and start sinking.

Fire crews and rescue divers rushed to the scene, unsure if anyone was inside.  Once they got in the water, they learned the car was empty.

Crews have since removed the vehicle from the lagoon.

It's not yet clear who pushed it into the water, or why.  ABC57 News is working to get those answers.
