School City of Mishawaka announces spring semester plans for schools

ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. – The School City of Mishawaka Board of Trustees presented plans for the spring semester to students and families Tuesday.

The new changes, which will begin when the semester does on January 4, will divide students’ hybrid and in-person learning schedules by grade levels.

7th graders, freshmen, and sophomores will meet for in-person learning on Mondays and Tuesdays with Wednesdays through Fridays being virtual learning days.

8th graders will meet for in-person learning on Thursdays and Fridays, with Mondays through Wednesdays being virtual learning days.

Juniors and seniors will meet for in-person learning on Wednesdays through Fridays, with Mondays and Tuesdays being virtual learning days.

Elementary students will still have the option of either in-person instruction or 100% virtual instruction.

These changes were made to keep COVID-19 regulations in mind while also allowing students to attend classes with peers in their same grade level to give them a better social and emotional learning environment.

Parents are asked to sign a new commitment form for the spring semester so the schools know who will be attending in-person classes for the rest of the school year.
