La Porte County Sheriff's Office Deputy calling could be a scam

LA PORTE, Ind. -- The La Porte County Sheriff's Office would like to warn the public of an individual posing as a La Porte County Sheriff's Office Deputy over the phone.
The Sheriff's Office phone number has been spoofed, and the individual is calling people regarding an outstanding warrant for failure to appear for jury duty. The number is 219-326-7700.
According to the La Porte County Sheriff's Office, no staff from the Sheriff's Office will contact you via the telephone and request payments for warrants or fines.
Citizens are encouraged to terminate the call immediately.
