Save the Dunes virtual 5K event

MICHIGAN CITY, Ind. -- Save the Dunes announced a virtual 5K event they will be hosting on National Public Lands Day, September 25, that will help support the Indiana Dunes National Park.

All proceeds from this 5K will go on to help keep Indiana Dunes National Park in great condition and continue educating community members about the importance of public lands.

National Public Lands Day encourages people around the country to volunteer or complete recreational activities in order to raise awareness for these valued areas.

Participants who preregister for this 5K by August 31 are guaranteed to receive a commemorative t-shirt that are available for pick up or by mail prior to completing the 3.1-mile run or walk.

“Our virtual Dunes Dash allows participants to support and celebrate public lands, such as our Indiana Dunes National Park, where ever they want and whenever they want during the week of the event. It also encourages people to simply get outside and connect to nature in our own communities,” said Natalie Johnson, Executive Director of Save the Dunes.

Participants will be able to complete the virtual 5K between September 18 and September 25 at a destination of their choosing.
