Rounds of storms, round one Wednesday evening

The first round is inbounded around 7:00 PM Wednesday evening but may weaken of lift north.

We're keeping a close eye on the forecast for the next two evenings as strong to severe storms are possible across Michiana. This evening, storms will likely stay away with the heat lingering. Our first round of strong storms arrives just before midnight for most of the area. Damaging winds would be the main thing to watch out for with these storms. Heavy rain and flash flooding are also possible before rain moves out around 6 AM.

How long storms and clouds linger from round one will play a big role in how strong round two will be. Before we get to round two, Thursday will be another hot and humid day with highs near 90. Then, another round of potential severe weather will move in after 8 PM Thursday. This round has the greater potential to cause power outages and widespread wind damage. The most likely scenario is that a powerful line of storms races through Michiana between 8 PM Thursday and midnight Friday. Damaging winds and embedded tornadoes are possible with this round of storms, along with some hail and heavy rain.

Friday will be sunny and cooler with highs near 80. More storms are possible late Saturday into early Sunday, but severe weather is not expected. The weather looks MUCH cooler and quiet next week, possibly providing a chance to give the A/C a break!

Tonight: Partly cloudy and very warm this evening, then strong storms overnight. Low 72.

Tomorrow: Partly cloudy, hot and humid. Strong storms likely after 8 PM. High 90.

Friday: Sunny. High 82.

Saturday: Mostly sunny. High 84. Showers and storms possible at night.
