Ron Shaffer hired as Plymouth head football coach

South Bend Tribune

PLYMOUTH, Ind. -- Ron Shaffer has been hired as the next head football coach for Plymouth High School.

The school board approved the decision on Tuesday, Jan. 6, along with Shaffer becoming the Dean of Students at the high school.

Shaffer was the head coach at Rochester for the past five years. In those five seasons, Shaffer compiled a 39-13 record, including an 0-8 to 5-3 turnaround in his first season.

His 39 wins in five seasons are just two less than the Rockies’ combined 41 in the past 10 years.

Shaffer is replacing former Plymouth head coach Adam Handley, who was fired Dec. 2, 2025, after four seasons leading the Rockies to a combined 12-30 record.
