Raiders defeat Huskies 28-27 to advance to sectional championship
SOUTH Bend, Ind. -- A thrilling back-and-forth game, including a second half that began with a kickoff return for a touchdown, lived up to the hype and ended with Northridge beating Saint Joseph 28-27.
One of the last plays of the game would prove to be the difference maker. After Saint Joe’s Hayden Gorball scored a touchdown to make the score 28 to 27 Raiders, the Huskies went for a two-point conversion and the win but came up short after Northridge’s defense stood tall.
Jake Scholl ran in all four of his team's touchdowns, in a stellar game for the sophomore.
After the victory, Raiders head coach Luke Amstutz said, “we’re excited, that was a crazy game, that’s a heck of a football team, I give their kids a lot of credit, they played hard, and either team that walks away from that deserves to win a huge game, so I feel for their kids, but I’m excited for our kids, let’s move on.”
The Raiders will take on Northwood in the sectional championship.
