ST. JOSEPH, Mich. -- Michigan State Police are investigating a pursuit that started in Benton Township and ended in a fatal crash in the City of Saint Joseph.
According to investigators, Benton Township Police spotted the suspect speeding on M-139 near Napier Avenue, just after 2:00 a.m., when they attempted to stop the vehicle, but lost sight of it west on I-94 past M-139.
A Berrien County Deputy later found the suspect on Lakeshore Road in Saint Joseph Township, where the pursuit then continued north on Lakeshore Drive, into Saint Joseph.
Around seven minutes later, that vehicle crashed on Lakeshore near Hilltop Road, where the suspect was thrown from the vehicle, and pronounced dead.
The 34-year-old Man's identify is currently being held back while Police notify his family.
