Potawatomi Zoo and United Federal Credit Union host Children's Day

NOW: Potawatomi Zoo and United Federal Credit Union host Children’s Day

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Wednesday was Children's Day at the Potawatomi Zoo for kids 14 years or younger, who enjoyed free admission.

In partnership with United Federal Credit Union, the zoo has hosted a Children's Day for five years. The credit union had a table just inside the zoo entrance and handed out free animal-themed 'Zoo Bags' with coupons inside.

Due to the heat, the zoo welcomed the Kona Ice Truck into the grounds and placed several misting stations throughout the park. All regular attractions, concessions, and the gift shop were open as well.

Kyle Etheridge, the Director of Guest Experience for the zoo told ABC57 "This is a chance for kids that might not normally get to come to the zoo to come and see what we're about, come and meet some wild animals, experience the train, or ride the carousel. There's so much that the zoo can offer, and we're glad that we can do this for the community.

And Jacob Alexander, a Senior Market Development Manager with United Federal Credit Union added "The zoo is such a great thing we have in this community, and children should be able to experience it all year round. And United plays a huge part in that, helping children, you know, come to the zoo."
