6-month-old from South Bend dies in three vehicle crash in Peru

PERU, Ind. -- On Monday at about 3:58 p.m., officers from the Indiana State Police and the Peru Police Department responded to a three-vehicle crash on U.S. 31 at Miami County Road 100 North, in which a six-month-old boy died.

The six-month old was identified as Leo Wallace, according to Police.

A Volvo semi-tractor rear ended into Toyota Corolla which then crashed into a Chevrolet Malibu causing the crash at the red light at Miami County Road 100 North, according to Police.

Another child sustained life threatening injuries and was flown to Riley’s Children’s hospital in Indianapolis.

Another woman sustained serious injuries and was flown to Fort Wayne hospital.

This is an ongoing investigation.
