Police investigating fourth South Bend shooting in three days
SOUTH BEND, Ind. – Police are investigating a shooting on Cushing Street that left a female injured on Monday night just after 11:40 p.m.
Police say the victim is in stable condition after being transported to Memorial hospital.
While officers were in route responding to a service call, ShotSpotter detected 12 shots fired.
Police then found the woman with at least one gunshot wound.
The South Bend Police Department is investigating and looking to the public for any information.
However, officials are also asking the public for information regarding three additional shootings that have happened since Saturday.
This includes Sunday night’s double shooting that killed a 16 year-old boy.
On Saturday morning, police responded to East Haney after an argument ended with gunshots. A 19-year-old was shot in the arm.
Sunday morning, officers responded to South Chapin and found a man shot in the leg. The victim says he was walking and felt pain after hearing shots ring out.
Later on Sunday, a double shooting killed 16-year-old Ajurin Blake and injured 18-year-old Nehemiah Watts. Blake, who was a Washington High School sophomore, was shot outside of his family’s home on North Brookfield.
These shootings are still being investigated by the South Bend Police Department and the St Joseph County Metro Homicide Unit.
