POLICE: Intoxicated driver kills 7-year-old pedestrian in LaGrange County

LAGRANGE COUNTY, Ind. -- The LaGrange County Sheriff's Office was called to the 1000 W. block of 600 S. in Millersburg to investigate a crash that resulted in the death of a seven-year-old girl on Monday afternoon. 

Authorities say around 2:50 p.m. on June 17, 26-year-old Eric Estrada of Ligonier, Ind., was driving a 2015 Mercedes passenger car east on C.R. 600 S when he struck a little girl who was crossing the road with another juvenile. 

The girl was pronounced dead at the scene and Estrada was found to be under the influence of a controlled substance. 

"After an OWI investigation the driver was charged with OWI causing a fatality," the crash report states. "This crash and case remain under investigation."

There is no word currently on the condition of the other juvenile. 

Estrada was wearing his seatbelt and was uninjured.
