SOUTH BEND, Ind. --- They may have already had their grand opening back in January but Four Winds Casino in South Bend is putting more cards on the table with their latest announcement. They’re adding a brand new poker room with ten tables and they’re set to begin construction on the northwest end of the casino next week.

“So we’re always looking for ways to enhance the experience of our guests and this is something that they’ve been asking for since we opened. It’ll be Texas Hold’em with different limits and Omaha,” said Scott Rice, General Manager at Four Winds Casino in South Bend.

You may remember Four Winds New Buffalo had a poker room at one time, but that no longer exists.

With live dealers and poker tournaments, No Limit Hold'em, Limit Hold'em, and pot Limit Omaha will all be available in the new poker room which will run from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 a.m. once construction is finished sometime around Labor Day.

According to Frank Freedman, Chief Operating Officer of Four Winds Casinos, poker table games with live dealers fall under the Class II gaming classification Four Winds South Bend currently offers.

“I was out there recently actually. It was fun watching some of the people come in, I can’t imagine sitting just all day doing this, but if they had the card tables, it’s much more interesting,” said South Bend resident Anita DeMunck. “I’m really not good at this stuff at all and one of the people that lives here at Robertson’s has been trying to teach me.”

Not only do Anita and casino officials think this will attract a bigger crowd, but she thinks it will keep them at the casino longer.

“I think this way they’ll stay there. I’m amazed how coordinated it is. You know, sometimes something that starts up new sort of stutters along. They were very coordinated it was good to see,” said DeMunck.

“Myself, I started in table games so.. and poker’s been something I played since I was younger so I’m just as excited as the guests are,” said Rice.

Casino officials say this will make room for more new hires in the near future.
