SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- A call came into dispatch at 5:57 p.m. Saturday with reports of a pedestrian that was hit by a pickup truck.
Officials tell us that the pedestrian was crossing westbound and a pickup truck traveling northbound hit the pedestrian.
The pedestrian was several feet away from the crosswalk lines and that the pickup truck had a green light when it struck the pedestrian, police said.
The pedestrian has been identified as a 69-year-old female from South Bend.
She died at the scene.
The driver stayed on the scene while authorities arrived and the vehicle was towed.
The area was closed down but was cleared at 8:40 p.m.
