Paving project on Western Avenue begins Tuesday morning

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- A new paving project by on Western Avenue will begin Tuesday, the City of South Bend Department of Public Works announced Monday.

Public Works officials say paving will be completed in phases:

• Phase One is Western Avenue from Walnut to Olive streets. Paving will start Tuesday, Oct. 8 and is anticipated to be complete by mid-October.
• Phase Two is Western Avenue from Falcon to Sheridan streets. Paving is expected to start mid-October and is expected to be completed by the end of October.

Temporary lane restrictions will be in place throughout the entirety of the project, which is expected to be completed by the end of October, weather permitting.
