SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The City of South Bend hosted an open house today from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Howard Park Community Center to showcase their plans to renovate Potawatomi Park.

Tim Corcoran, the Director of Planning for the City of South Bend, shared the specific plans for the park's renovation.

“[We're] going to see an expanded parking area to help with traffic driven by the enormous success of the zoo," Corcoran says. "There were over 450,000 visitors to the zoo last year [and] it's a great success story in South Bend.”

Additionally, the park will have a new splashpad and upgrades to the playground, including low-sensory accessible options.

The renovations are expected to be completed within the next two years.
