One man dead, six others injured in Elkhart County crash
ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. -- One man was killed and six others were injured in a crash Saturday evening.
According to the Elkhart County Sheriff's Office, 39-year-old Harry Wells was driving a 2010 Chevrolet Impala northbound on County Road 127 through the intersection of County Road 48 when he struck the passenger side of a 2004 Dodge Ram. The Ram was traveling eastbound on County Road 48.
The crash happened around 8:45 p.m.
The driver of the Ram, a 44-year-old man, was transported to Goshen Hospital with reports of pain. He had five passengers in the truck who were all transported to Goshen Hospital as well, including a 45-year-old woman complaining of neck pain, a 26-year-old woman with minor lacerations and neck pain, a 12-year-old girl with complaints of pain, a nine-year-old girl with minor head injuries, and a nine-year-old boy with complaints of head pain.
It is not clear at this time whether any of the occupants in either vehicle were wearing seat belts.
The Elkhart County Sheriff's Office Crash Investigation Team is investigating this crash.
