Pedestrian killed in crash involving train in Mishawaka

MISHAWAKA, Ind. --- Police responded to a deadly crash involving a train and a pedestrian on Main Street and 4th Street Tuesday night, according to the Mishawaka Police Department. 

Two trains were stopped on the tracks while police investigated. 

The incident happened just before 8 p.m. and emergency crews blocked off a portion of Main Street.

Police on the scene confirmed one person is dead.

The stopped trains blocked the intersections across the south side of the city. Drivers were instructed to use the underpasses on Church Street, Ironwood Drive, and Capital Avenue. 

The investigation is ongoing.
