KOSCIUSKO COUNTY, Ind. -- One person is dead and another is hurt after a serious car crash in Kosciusko County.

The Kosciusko County Sheriff's Office says it happened Thursday, May 7, at 2:54 p.m. on C.R. 700. The initial investigation shows 49-year-old Ranee Tom of Syracuse crossed the center line of the road in his sedan. This led a head-on collision with a pickup truck driven by 74-year-old Scott Smith of Milford. Tom was pronounced dead at the scene. Smith was air-lifted to the hospital; his status and the extent of his injuries are not known.

The crash remains under investigation.
