One dead after accident on Dogwood and Shively Road on Monday

ST JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. – The St. Joseph County Fatal Crash Team was dispatched to investigate an accident that killed one person, occurring on Dogwood Road and Shively Road just after 4 pm on Monday.

According to the initial investigation, a Ford Fusion was traveling westbound on Shively Road with a stop sign. A Honda Accord was traveling north on Dogwood, which does not have a stop sign for the north/south direction.

The two vehicles collided at the intersection, according to FACT.

The driver of the Ford Fusion has been identified as Wayne Lamar Dickerhoff, a 91-year-old of Arizona (locally from Bremen). He was transported to the hospital for his injuries but passed away Monday evening. An autopsy has not been scheduled.

The driver of the Honda Accord was treated for minor injuries and released. The driver has been cooperative with investigators.

FACT was activated per protocol. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
