SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- An off-duty South Bend police officer was arrested in the early morning Wednesday, says the South Bend Police Department.

The 29-year-old officer, Robert Neufer, was arrested on a preliminary charge of Domestic Battery Committed in the Presence of a Child following a call to the South Bend Police around 3:30 a.m.

As of 8:34 a.m. Wednesday, Neufer has been relieved of duty pending further investigations and awaits a formal charging decision.

Neufer was sworn in as an officer for the South Bend Police Department in 2023.
