Notre Dame Men's Soccer closes out stunning season
LOUISVILLE, KY - After a successful season and a chance in the championships, the Notre Dame Men's soccer team falls 2-1 to the ninth seed Clemson Tigers in the men's College Cup.
The Irish fought hard.
In the first half, Russo fired a shot on target, but was defended by Clemson, giving Notre Dame the first corner of the night.
Russo received another chance, a behind the line free kick, soaring just over the bar.
By half-time, the Irish were down one.
In the second half, Clemson leaps further 2-0.
Irish defender Paddy Burns then scores for Notre Dame, on their opponent's heels.
But, time wasn't on Notre Dame's side.
"Not our night," writes Notre Dame Men's Soccer on X. "An unbelievable season comes to an end in the College Cup Final. Couldn't be prouder of this group and everything they accomplished. We will be back."
Congrats men on your season. Until next year!
