Notre Dame coach Micah Shrewsberry wins gold at FIBA U18 Americup

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Notre Dame men's basketball head coach Micah Shrewsberry helped lead the U18 USA team to gold in the 2024 FIBA U18 Americup Sunday in Buenos Aires.

This was Shrewsberry's first USA coaching stint, as he was named an assistant coach for Team USA.

The U18 USA team defeated Brazil to take the top seed in Group B. USA then topped Canada in the semifinals to compete in the final game, defeating Argentina 110-70 for the gold.

This is USA U18 National Team's seventh straight gold medal at the 2024 FIBA Men's U18 AmeriCup.

Darius Acuff Jr. was named MVP after finishing the gold-medal game with 26 points, nine assists, six rebounds and three steals in the victory. Acuff Jr. is an uncommitted point guard out of Detroit, Michigan.

USA leads Argentina all-time 14-1. This is also Team USA's 11th gold medal in 13 renditions of the event.
