NICU babies dress up for their first Halloween
ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. - Nurses at local hospitals are making sure even the smallest members of the community are not left out of the Halloween festivities.
In the Neonatal Intensive Care Units (NICU) at Memorial Hospital in South Bend and Saint Joseph Hospital in Mishawaka, nurses created costumes for the babies.
These special babies are not able to spend the holiday at home, so the nurses try to create a sense of normalcy for the babies and their parents.
Latishia Lewis, the mother of twins in the Beacon Children’s Hospital at Memorial, said she’s grateful to the staff for what they did for her daughters.
“They’re so tiny, you really wouldn’t expect a hospital to do this, but they did it and it makes me feel great because I know that they love my girls just like I do.”
