MISHAWAKA, Ind.—A new restaurant is planned for the old Scotty’s Brewhouse building on North Main Street, according to Aspen Creek Grill President Bern Rehberg.

Aspen Tap House, a smaller-format version of restaurant chain Aspen Creek Grill, is set to open in early 2021 at 4340 North Main Street.

“Aspen Tap House will be slightly smaller and more intimate than Aspen Creek Grill, and will have many more big screen TVs for live viewing popular sporting events,” Rehberg said.

Aspen Tap House will offer a full bar that includes 30 local and craft beers on tap, wine and house-made cocktails.

Rehberg describes the food menu as “made from scratch comfort fresh,” and items listed on the menu include everything from shareable cheese curds and chicken wings to Nashville-hot chicken sandwiches and burgers.

Rehberg’s said that opening the new restaurant is a “return home” for him, as he lived and raised his family in Granger while managing several other restaurants in Mishawaka for years.

“We chose Mishawaka because it is such a terrific community that has always been supportive of good restaurants. We love the people and the sense of community and hospitality we have always enjoyed in South Bend and Mishawaka,” Rehberg said.

Aspen Creek Grill has restaurants in Texas, Indiana and Kentucky.

Scotty’s Brewhouse closed its Mishawaka location in July 2019 after the restaurant chain filed for bankruptcy.
