A burst of snow Wednesday evening
SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- South Bend students are getting a unique opportunity to earn college credits before they even enter high school!
Through the district's GEARUP program, the 'Pathways to Success' summer camp gives 8th graders a chance to earn their very first college credit the summer before their freshman year.
Students work with Varsity Tutors, one of the largest online learning platforms in the country, to gain more knowledge and experiences that will then leave them more college and career ready after graduation.
The free program then follows the students through their senior year, when many will have earned an Associate's degree, 60 college credits, before they even walk across the stage for their high school diploma.
The district also offers other free summer camps and activities that you can take advantage of, including rock climbing and cooking camps at the Kroc Center, and a radio and TV camp at Riley High School's student-run studios.
