Three patients have died at Landmark Recovery since July 3.
Investigators say 19-year-old Seth Jones of Montpelier, Ind. died on July 3
A day later they were called back to the facility to find that 46-year-old William Breda of Griffith had died
Police say the two men were found in rooms right across from each other.
They say just a few hours later they were called back for another emergency, but they were able to revive that man with three doses of Narcan, and he is expected to survive.
Then, on July 9, police were called back to the facility for a report of a smoke alarm. When they arrived, they found a 28-year-old man dead.
They believe that may have been a suicide.
Investigators are still waiting for toxicology reports as they try to determine what exactly happened with all three of the victims. They suspect drug overdoses but are waiting for more information.
Landmark Recovery released the following statement.
"At Landmark Recovery, patient care and safety are our top priorities. Addiction is a devastating disease that impacts every socioeconomic level and because of that, we have made it our mission to not only serve those with commercial health insurance, but to provide high quality care for those with Medicaid, a population that has very few choices or support options for addiction recovery. We are saddened to share that we had 3 patients pass away at our Praxis facility in South Bend, Indiana. At this time, we cannot share any further patient information due to HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2 regulations. However, we are working closely with authorities and conducting an internal investigation into these events."
