SOUTH BEND, Ind.— A new restaurant in downtown South Bend is targeting a November opening date.

Fatbird will be a contemporary southern restaurant, according to one of the owners, Jordan Mullins.

“We will definitely be offering fried chicken,” Mullins said.

Mullins, who has over 15 years of experience working in restaurants in positions ranging from dishwasher to general manager, said no specific date has been set but the team is hoping for a November opening.

Fatbird will open at 103 W. Colfax, inside of the building that formerly housed Tapastrie, which closed its doors in January.

"It's the best spot in the city of South Bend," Mullins said.
