BENTON HARBOR, Mich. - There's a long tradition of basketball talent in Benton Harbor, and perhaps the brightest star in that history is Wilson Chandler.
The 2005 Benton Harbor High grad and Mr. Basketball is set to enter his 12th season in the NBA with a new team after signing this summer with the Brooklyn Nets.
But this summer has also been about returning to support his hometown. The latest example, his inaugural youth basketball camp.
“That's kind of where I am in my life," he said. "Basketball has taken me around the world. I’ve seen a lot from here in the States to Europe or to China. Having those experiences, to come home and be able to share it, I think this summer I was sitting down, thinking to myself that I’d like to be around more.”
In the video above, hear more from Chandler about the sold-out camp and the importance of building confidence for those kids in Benton Harbor.
