SOUTH BEND, Ind.—Zen Café’s manager, Tyler Sutch, took a few minutes to give a how-to on crafting the perfect pour over cup of coffee, just in time for National Coffee Day on September 29.
“To get a truly great cup of coffee, every step has to be in sync,” Sutch said.
In the video above, Sutch gives a quick tutorial on how Zen Café’s team makes a pour over cup of their naturally processed Catuai coffee, which they import themselves.
“It usually takes about two minutes and thirty seconds to brew this cup of coffee,” Sutch said.
The South Bend coffee roaster and café celebrated 10 years in business this year and moved operations from Lang Lab to a more central downtown location at 530 E. LaSalle Avenue.
Zen Café’s team is also hard at work perfecting their version of a pumpkin spice latte for their fall menu, which they call a pumpkin curry latte.
As for Sutch, his go-to coffee order is simple.
“I am painfully boring and I like just a plain, batch-brewed coffee,” Sutch said.
