Milford man sentenced for making threatening social media posts mentioning President Trump

MILFORD, Ind. -- Twenty-four-year-old Douglas Thrams of Milford was sentenced Thursday in the U.S. Northern District of Indiana Court. Thrams will serve two years of supervised release for count one of a seven-count federal indictment, with counts two to seven dismissed. This follows the 10 months and 14 days that Thrams spent in custody.

The charge against Thrams by a grand jury states he, "knowingly and willfully did transmit in interstate and foreign commerce a communication containing a threat to injure the person of another, namely by recording a video of himself speaking and posting the video to TikTok, an online social media platform, wherein he stated that people needed to stop using their voice and start using their weapons and Second Amendment rights and go to their local government buildings in order to see real change in the world."

According to court documents, Thrams posted multiple videos threatening violence with anti-government language on Jan. 22, 2025, while located in Goshen. The videos were discovered by a Goshen police detective, who sent the information to the Indiana Intelligence Fusion Center, which in turn notified the FBI.

Thrams is considered to have made interstate and foreign communications because of how TikTok videos are shared on the platform.

In one video, Thrams is seen with a rifle in his hands, which he taps while saying, "A friendly little reminder that we do have a Second Amendment right. We also have in our Declaration of Independence the right to take control of the government and even possibly institute a new one. So, I ask the question again -- when, where, what time, give me coordinates. As long as other people are going to show up, I will show up. I will bring my Second Amendment right. In fact, I will bring as many as my Second Amendment rights as I can. But I just need to know when we’re going to do this, where we’re going to do this, how we’re going to do this, um, because it needs to be done. It needs to be done. There is literally no way forward without violence this time. I’m sorry."

In another video, Thrams says on camera, "Every U.S. government building needs to be bombed immediately." In the same video, he later says "[Trump] needs to be assassinated and this time, don’t f***ing miss."
