MISHAWAKA, Ind. - The United States Marine Corps is celebrating its 248th birthday Friday.
The Continental Congress established the Marines on November 10, 1775, in the lead up to the American revolution, meaning the Marines are older than the United States.
Since then, the few and the proud have fought for America, both on land and sea.
Friday, dozens of Michiana Marines came together at Mishawaka's Battell Park to mark the occasion with a flag raising ceremony.
