Member of football coaching staff at Concord High School tests positive for COVID-19

ELKHART, Ind. – Concord Community Schools announced that a member of the coaching staff for the football team has tested positive for COVID-19.

Schools officials say that the staff member had experienced symptoms associated with COIVD-19 on July 17 and later received a presumed positive test.

The Elkhart County Health Department has been notified by school officials.

Members of the school district have been communicating with the affected individual and their family, as well as with students and other school staff members who were in contact with the individual who tested positive for the virus.

“We share the community’s concern that a staff member has tested positive for COVID-19,” Superintendent Dan Funston said in a statement. “We want to emphasize that this individual’s exposure to students was not considered close contact by the Elkhart County Health Department’s guidelines.”

The district announced that football practices have been suspended until July 27.

The identity of the individual who tested positive has not been released at this time.
