SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- On Jan. 17, hundreds are expected to gather for the annual March for Life South Bend that coincides with the week Roe v. Wade was decided in 1973 and serves as a remembrance of lives impacted in the 52 years since.

The event will begin with a rally at The Hall (533 E. Washington St.) at 10:30 a.m.

"The rally will feature a local practitioner’s reflection on her experiences working with women who have changed their minds about abortion. Local pastors will lead prayer," organizers said. "At 11 a.m., the march will begin its peaceful trek downtown South Bend to the courthouse at 204 S. Main St."

Organizers say that prayer and peaceful protest will take place at the courthouse until noon and the weekend will conclude with the local “Stuff-a-Truck” for Moms and Babies initiative.

The march will feature a truck full of mom and baby care items which will be distributed to pregnancy centers throughout Michiana," organizers said. "The community is encouraged to bring items to the March for Life. For a list of needed items, visit www.prolifemichiana.org/truck."

Donations can be delivered to the Right to Life Michiana office at 2004 Ironwood Circle, Suite 130 in South Bend.

The following day, Jan. 18, the Elkhart Rally and Prayer Walk for Life. The rally will happen at the Lerner Theater and the prayer walk will go into downtown Elkhart.

Doors to The Lerner open at 11 a.m. and a social hour will be held from 11 a.m. to noon with the "opportunity to visit and learn from community partners sharing local programs and services," organizers said.

"The rally program begins at noon and will feature local prayer leaders and pastors, musicians, and a keynote testimony offered by Bruce Dyksen of She Found His Grace."
