Man with a gun prompts lockdown at Three Rivers schools

THREE RIVERS, Mich. -- A man who was walking near Three Rivers High School with a gun was not a threat to students or staff, according to Three Rivers Police.

Police received a call Tuesday about a pedestrian who was carrying a shotgun in the area of Jefferson Street and 6th Avenue.

As a safety precaution, Three Rivers High School and Three Rivers Middle School were placed on lockdown.

The man was found on Wood Street, reports said. Police said he was legally carrying a cased and unloaded firearm.

The schools lifted the lockdown after being briefed on the situation.

Police said they believe there was never any danger to students or staff.
